Hair removal electric, Electrodepilation either “electrolysis”

Electrodepilation

WHAT IS ELECTROLYSIS HAIR REMOVAL?

Electrolysis hair removal, commonly referred to simply as electrolysis, is a technique that removes individual hairs by applying a small electrical current directly into the hair follicle.

This method is particularly useful when laser hair removal has limitations, such as when the hair is white or very light in color, or when there are only a few isolated coarse hairs.

Electrolysis is also frequently used to treat residual hairs that remain after laser treatments.

WHEN IS ELECTROLYSIS RECOMMENDED?

Electrolysis is commonly recommended in situations such as:

  • Presence of white or very light-colored hairs that do not respond to laser treatments.

  • Small numbers of coarse hairs in a localized area.

  • Residual hairs after laser hair removal treatments.

  • Situations where it is desirable to avoid paradoxical hair growth stimulation, a phenomenon that has been described after laser treatments in areas such as the face, neck, or back.

ADVANTAGES OF ELECTROLYSIS

Effective for hair of any color
Unlike laser treatments, electrolysis can treat coarse hairs regardless of color, including white hair.

Precise treatment of isolated hairs
It allows individual treatment of persistent hairs that do not respond to other methods.

Complement to laser treatments
Electrolysis can be used to address residual hairs that remain after laser hair removal.

LIMITATIONS OF ELECTROLYSIS

Not suitable for areas with high hair density
Because each hair must be treated individually, electrolysis is not practical for large areas with dense hair growth.

Only visible hairs can be treated in each session
Hairs that are in early stages of the hair cycle may appear days or weeks later.

Temporary inflammation
Mild localized inflammation may occur after treatment.

Long-term evaluation of results
As with laser hair removal, hair reduction should be evaluated over the long term. Follow-up of at least four years allows a more accurate assessment of the stability of results.

Although hair reduction may exceed 90%, some hairs may still appear months or even years later.

VISUAL CHANGES DURING THE FIRST MONTHS

During the first months of treatment, a visual change may occur related to the suspension of hair self-manipulation (plucking or extracting hairs).

Although inflammation gradually decreases, the actual number of hairs present may become more noticeable, particularly if treatment sessions are spaced longer than recommended.

When to Continue Treatment with Electrolysis Only

when to continue electrolisys only
Despite the combined use of laser and electrolysis targeting fine hairs, a small number of coarse hairs continues to regrow in the treated area.
